Pool Etiquette
Anytime a large number of people get together, germs, bacteria and other creepy-crawlies can exist! In an environment that is chemically treated and designed to kill germs and other disease-causing bacteria, some forms of bacteria can still sneak in; Bacteria like cryptosporidium, e-coli, streptococci, staphylococcus!! It’s amazing what lurks under the water! Although, chemicals kill most of these bacteria, preventing these creepy-crawlies from entering our
pool water in the first place is the best practice. We can all maintain our health by following the rules listed below:
1. Always take a shower before entering the pool.
2. Always wash hands after using toilet facilities and/or when changing diapers before re-entering the pool.
3. Teach children appropriate places to go to the bathroom.
4. Teach children not to drink the pool water.
5. Please do not change your baby’s diaper on deck; baby-changing stations are available for your use in the locker rooms. Please dispose soiled disposable diapers in an appropriate location (trash cans).
6. Patrons who are under 4 years of age or who are not toilet-trained UST
Wear leak-proof protective pants. This product for children is available at the front desk for a nominal fee
7. Patrons who have had flu-like symptoms including diarrhea (loose\watery stool) within the past two weeks, should not go swimming.
Education is a part of the plan to remain safe and healthy. Effective water treatment practices and cleanliness is the other part of the plan. You do your part and we will do ours. Together we can keep our pool water disease free. Remember, DON’T DRINK THE WATER !!
Be Sun--Smart
It’s your skin -- are you protecting it? Research shows that about 80% of skin cancers could be prevented by protecting ourselves from the sun’s rays. For children, avoiding sunburn during childhood/adolescence is very important in reducing the risk of skin cancer when they are adults.
Educate your kids and yourself -- enjoy the outdoors,
Be SUN--SMART !!
