
The Watertown Park and Recreation Department offers diverse year-round programs dedicated to providing wholesome recreation and park activities as well as facilities and services for you and your family to take part in. From organized youth and adult sports to fitness classes, sports clinics, camps, dance, enrichment activities, to walking trails, dog parks, skating rinks and playgrounds -- we are here for you to enjoy the natural beauty of our parks, learn a new skill or attend a special event! We can accomplish this through the provision of high quality services, parks, open spaces, facilities and a variety of programs and special events.

These lessons are held on Saturday mornings and early afternoons in the lower level of the Senior Center. Fall and winter sessions are offered which culminate with a recital in the spring. Classes are made available to those ages 4 and up.
The department offers local baseball instruction and competition to boys and girls ages 7 through 12. Two levels of competition are offered at each age group to allow players to pick the program that best suits their ability. Practices begin early in May. Players will be contacted by their coach for practice upon receiving rosters. The practice sessions are generally 1 hour in length and are held at local parks at times convenient to the coach. League play begins in late May and runs through July, weather permitting. Games are planned to be played at Brandt/Quirk Park early evenings on weeknights. Divisions are as follows:
7 & 8 yr olds T-ball or Pee Wee
9 & 10 yr olds Slow-pitch or Fast pitch

(Thursday games) An instructional league for first time players and those who are not yet ready for a structured program. Basic skills are stressed and soft baseballs are used.
(Thursday games) This league is offered to
children possessing more advanced skills. Coaches pitch slow delivery to players
using soft balls.
(Monday games) This league has been set up for players needing extensive work on learning basic skills. Coaches will pitch slow delivery.
(Wednesday games) This league is designed for more advanced players. Players will pitch and there will be not restrictions on the pitching speed.
Both fast pitch and slow-pitch leagues are offered to children at this level. Players possessing more advanced skills are encouraged to join the fast pitch league. Both leagues play on Tuesdays.
This program offers competitive baseball for boys ages 13 through 16. Watertown is a member of the Tri-city Baseball league, which includes teams from Hartford, Oconomowoc, Beaver Dam, and Jefferson. The Sandy Koufax Division consists of 13 and 14 year olds, and the Mickey Mantle Division of 15 and 16 year olds. League play begins in June.
The Watertown High School baseball coaches and players will conduct this clinic at the high school for players ages 9 through 14. Using their indoor practice facilities, instruction will be offered covering a variety of baseball skills.
Designed for those reaching age 6 by August 1. Format will concentrate on instruction of basic skills using instructional equipment. Program will conclude with scrimmage games. Participants should have baseball glove and hat.

The department sponsors fifth grade basketball leagues for Watertown’s public schools and some parochial schools. The boys play during November and December and girls play in January and February. Registration begins at the schools and in our office approximately a month prior to the respective season.
This instructional program for boys and girls currently enrolled in kindergarten through fourth grade beginning in November. Instruction will stress basic skills and fundamentals using scaled down equipment. Registration usually begins in October.
Team registration for men’s city league basketball begins in the Park and Rec office in September. Play begins November, at the middle school gymnasium. Information on fees and scheduling will be available at the time of registration.
The department sponsors open basketball for high school players and adults at the high school. Wednesday evening play begins in September at 6:30 pm and Sunday afternoon play begin at 3:00 pm in October. There is no registration or fees required for this program.
The Park and Recreation Department is working with the High School to offer intramural sports programs for high school students. These programs are intended to offer recreation and exercise to students who are not involved in the school’s offering this sport.

The cross-country ski trails are located at Brandt/Quirk Park. The trails are groomed when adequate snow is accumulated. A drainage ditch separates the two trails. The west side trail which is fairly flat and is approximately 1.75 miles in length and can be accessed at the north end of Hiawatha Street. This side of the trail goes north along the railroad tracks and includes 1 mile of trail in the wooded area at the northwest corner of the park. The east side trail is also approximately 1.75 miles in length and is accessible at the north end of Carriage Hill Drive with parking available at the trail head in the soccer field parking lot. This trail travels through open fields and onto the wooded High School hill which does provide a couple of good down hill runs.
Experience the day camp adventure in your own back yard -- Riverside Park! This program covers eight weeks of fun. Some of the excitement includes; field trips, swimming at the Aquatic Center, arts and crafts, sports, drama, music, nature study, intergenerational activities and so much more! Fun! Fun! Fun all day long!
This program will include players in grades 4 through 6. Games are planned for Monday and Thursday evenings beginning in September. Registration begins in the Park and Rec office in August . We hope to divide teams according to the schools the players attend.
This non-contact camp is designed to incorporate the basics of organized football by teaching the fundamentals of formation, numbering system, cadence, stance, passing game development, defensive alignments, etc through the use of chalk talks and drills. Watertown high school coaches lead this camp offered to those entering grades 7 through 9.

All lessons will be held at Luther Prep Athletic fields and are instructed by Luther Prep golf coach, Paul Bertolus. All lessons include 4 hours of instruction and range balls. Clubs are available upon request.
Spring Soccer League
Spring season soccer will run from the end of March through May. Boys and girls enrolled in kindergarten through age 12 are eligible. The micro soccer format using small-sided teams will be used. Attempts will be made to keep teams together from the fall program. The registration deadline is March.
This program is intended to introduce young players, ages 5 - 8 to micro-soccer, which will be integrated into the fall program. Micro soccer involves smaller sided teams playing on sized down fields in an effort to get all players more involved in the action.
Fall Soccer League
June registration for the fall soccer program is available for boys and girls entering kindergarten through 12 years of age. The season usually runs from September – October.
This youth soccer camp is offered to boys and girls ages 8 through 13 at Brandt/Quirk Park. The Watertown High School coach, will direct the camp designed to offer personalized, individual skill instruction and an understanding of group tactics in an atmosphere of fun and competition. Sessions are held in July. Fees are very reasonable and include a t-shirt and soccer ball.

There are a variety of slow-pitch softball leagues for men and women at the softball complex in Riverside Park. Men's leagues play on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Women play on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Co-rec leagues will play Tuesdays with both Division A and B leagues offered. Register a team or become a member of one.
The department offers separate men’s leagues on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings. The leagues begin play in September. Teams generally play double headers each night for five weeks. Women’s leagues will be offered if enough interest exists.
This league is offered to girls ages 12-15 and offers recreational slow-pitch softball on Thursday evenings. Girls are allowed to register an entire team or sign up as an individual and be placed on a team
This program is intended to introduce girls (under 10, under 12, under14) to the exciting sport of girl’s fast pitch softball. This activity is played in most high schools and colleges and is an Olympic sport. Volunteer coaches strive to develop skills including pitching, catching, fielding, hitting and base running that players need to become a competitive player. Local teams compete in a traveling league consisting of other area communities.
High School Slowpitch Softball
The department offers slowpitch softball to high school boys and girls on Tuesday and/or Friday evenings at Riverside Park. Team registration is due in May. Additional details and information is distributed at the high school.

Tennis Court Lighting Schedule
Spring/Summer Schedule:
Light timers will be activated approximately the last week in March depending on
weather. Time on 6:00pm and will turn off at 10:30pm.
Fall Schedule:
-September 1, 2010 - 6:00pm to 10:30pm
- October 1, 2010 - 5:00pm to 10:30pm
- November 1, 2010 - 4:00pm to 8:00pm
The department has teamed up with USPTA Pro I Professional Instructor Barb Mueller to offer high-level instruction to both children and adults. All lessons will be held at our new tennis facility in Brandt/Quirk Park.
We are taking names of youth of any ages who are wheel chair bound and interested in participating in the tennis programs. Times and dates will be determined.
Adult Summer Volleyball Leagues
The Watertown Volleyball Association organizes leagues for men, women and couples at the outdoor volleyball complex located in Riverside Park. Teams returning from the previous year will be contacted directly by the WVA.
The department offers fall and winter volleyball leagues for men, women, and mixed teams at a variety of skill levels. League play begins in October and runs through March. Women play on Tuesdays; men on Wednesdays and coed leagues on Sundays and Mondays.
Summer Grade School Volleyball
This program consists of a combination of instructional drills and matches. Sessions will meet on Tuesdays from 5 to 6 pm from June through July, at the outdoor courts in Riverside Park. Pre-registration is required. T-shirts are included in the cost of registration.
The program involves girls attending local public schools and includes instruction and low-level match play. Registration will begin when school resumes in fall. There is no fee.
This instructional program is co-sponsored by the Watertown High School Wrestling Team and coaching staff. Students currently enrolled in kindergarten through eighth grade are eligible. Sessions meet on Tuesday evenings at the high school from November through January.
Discover a gentle approach to better health by attending a 7-week course for beginners of all ages. You will learn 40 Hatha Yoga exercises, breathing, visualization and relaxation techniques and the art of meditation.
