You’re passionate about Watertown. You’ve chosen to call it home. Build your life here. Grow your career. Create a family. You have every reason to want to see the city succeed. Now, we’re asking you to help us uncover Watertown’s brand – and discover what makes our city truly unique.

A brand is not simply an image, mark, logo or a tagline, but a much bigger, longer-term endeavor. Branding is authentic storytelling that engages and reaches our most important audiences - and every resident of Watertown plays the role of storyteller.

Community and business leaders across the city are contributing to this effort, because they believe that Watertown is an incredible place to live, work and visit, but also acknowledge that the city needs to develop a recognizable brand that can elevate the area’s profile locally and regionally - and most importantly, help showcase the community that Watertown citizens know and love.

Of course, like every community, we have our share of challenges, including a limited understanding of the city by outsiders. Take, for example, the fact that a survey recently conducted by the city revealed that the first words that come to mind for most people living in the Madison-Milwaukee corridor when thinking of Watertown are water, small town and rural.

But we all know that there is so much more to Watertown than this.

Branding Watertown will help determine its true identity and a common vision for our future, allowing the community’s champions – that’s you! - to tell the city’s opportunity story in a concise and compelling way.

It will allow us to successfully market Watertown to a wide variety of critical audiences - including the skilled professionals mentioned above, who don’t seem to know much about us - along with potential residents, investors, companies and tourists. All of these groups are essential ingredients for our city’s long-term success.

The Watertown region has a lot to be proud of – and the new brand will help residents share exactly what makes our city unique and one-of-a-kind, while we each put our own stamp on the story of how we came to call this place home.

Here’s where we need you. In crafting a new brand identity, we’re asking for your input.
