Have a student heading back to school? Here is some information for families that live in the City of Watertown and attend schools in the Watertown Unified School District.

If your child is identified as a close contact to a positive case of COVID-19, you will receive an email from your local health department as well as from the school notifying that they will need to quarantine.

This email will provide you with the last date of contact and the release date from their quarantine as well as information on quarantine.

Anyone who has been exposed to COVID-19 should stay home and not have contact with others for 14 days after the last exposure unless fully vaccinated.

Students who are fully vaccinated (at least 14 days after 2nd dose of Pfizer or Moderna or 1 dose of Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) vaccine, depending on age) will not need to quarantine after an exposure and will not be considered a close contact.

Below is criteria from Wisconsin Department of Health Services for identifying close contacts:

Watertown Department of Public Health is not able to provide you with information on education options while you child is home in isolation or quarantine. Please contact your child’s school to discuss this.

Watertown Department of Public Health does not have jurisdiction over what safety measures Watertown Unified School District has in place (masking, social distancing, vaccination). We have shared the most up to date information with them and will continue to do our part to help stop the spread of COVID.
