Honorable John David
106 Jones Street
Welcome to our City of Watertown web site. As a lifelong resident of Watertown, I know what a great community Watertown is. We are located about halfway between Milwaukee and Madison, nestled on the banks of the Rock River, surrounded by beautiful farms and farmland.
Watertown also has a strong Commercial and Industrial base. This, along with our strong agricultural ties, help to make our community a great place to live, work and play. We have a pleasant mix of single family and multi-family housing offered across our city. The city has a large inventory of well maintained older homes as well as modern homes in new subdivisions. Watertown offers a wide variety of city services; with a full-time Police and Paramedic trained Fire Department, public safety is a priority for the city government.
We have a school system that provides top quality education to the children of the Watertown Area School District. We also have a wide variety of Parochial schools from elementary through college. We boast a fine Campus of Madison Area Technical College. Watertown has an extensive system of wonderfully maintained city parks. We have many neighborhood parks and three large community parks; Brandt/Quirk, Riverside and Washington Parks. Brandt/Quirk is the largest at 167 acres, offering activities from hiking, cross country skiing, tennis, soccer, baseball, softball, skateboarding, Frisbee golf and dog walking trails. Riverside Park is a beautiful park located on the shores of the Rock River. It is 29 acres in size and is the oldest park in the city. A highlight of the park is the Aquatic Center with water fun, play structures and refreshments available. Washington Park is 6 acres in size and is an excellent baseball facility with restrooms, and a newer play area for toddlers and younger children.
Watertown’s downtown is one of the best preserved examples of a historic city center in the state of Wisconsin. The Watertown Main Street Program is encouraging redevelopment and restoration of the historic buildings in downtown Watertown.
There are many reasons to visit or locate to Watertown; housing, industry, schools, shopping, recreation; but our best asset is the people of Watertown. They are friendly, energetic and hardworking. I invite you to come see our City and meet the wonderful citizens of Watertown.
Very Sincerely Yours
John David, Mayor
